    • windscreen, windows, mirrors

    • wheels, tyres, hubcaps

    • engine, clutch, battery

    • locks

  • ‘immobilisation’ charges (for loss of revenue while the car is being repaired and cannot be rented out)

  • charges directly related to locking yourself out of the rental car or losing its key(s)

  • the amount Unicorn charges as a result of claiming on the car’s Theft Protection policy

  • damage to / loss of child seats, GPS devices or other ‘extra equipment’.

If you purchase our Full Protection waiver product,Unicorn may still block your credit card with a deposit when you pick your car up, to cover potential damage to or loss of the rental car – but our Full Protection waiver product means that we have waived your liability to pay for the charges detailed here and we will refund the sum withheld from the deposit to cover these charges, subject to the terms described here.

Full Protection

If you buy Full Protection, you will receive the policy documentation by email.

If you purchase any of the Unicorn Rent A Car Limited products to protect your excess during your rental, you will be receiving the benefits of the product; therefore we are not able to issue a refund if you do not make a claim.

Optional Covers and Waivers available at counter

Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) reduces the driver’s liability in the event that the rental car is damaged, limiting their legal obligation to pay for repairing or replacing the car, subject to the terms of the rental agreement.
Rather than the full cost, the driver is generally only responsible for the first portion, known as their ‘excess’ – and in many cases, this excess is set at zero, meaning the driver’s liability is waived entirely.
This protection applies to all authorised drivers of the rental car.

Cover Arrangements

Cover Agreements

When you pick your car up, the counter staff may offer to sell you additional products in relation to your excess or deposit. If you have bought Full Protection, you do not need to buy them. However, our company’s products might provide additional benefits: for example, an advanced level of service. If you decide you want these benefits, you may choose to buy their product(s) as well.

Please make sure you read the terms and conditions of the cover you receive when signing the rental agreement at pick-up, to find out about the policy’s exclusions and limits.
Policies normally exclude things such as windscreens, glass, wheels, tyres, undercarriage, interior, personal belongings, towing charges & off-road time – as well as any ‘extra equipment’ hired from the Unicorn Rent A Car, such as child seats and GPS devices.
Note that your cover will be invalidated by negligence, refuelling errors or breaking the terms of the rental agreement (for example, by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs).

Please make sure that you read the terms and conditions you receive when you sign the agreement at pick-up, to find out more about the policy’s exclusions and limits.

Administration Charges

Damage to the car will be charged for by Unicorn Rent A Car Limited after it is dropped off - and will incur a Damage Administration fee on top of the amount deducted from the excess.

An Immobilisation Charge is payable in the event of an accident. This is in addition to the amount deducted from the excess and is compulsory. This charge is calculated against the car group and the number of repair days.
